Remodelling Bliss: The Pleasures Of Being An Accidental Renovator

Hello. Jonno Roberts here. I am a simple guy who leads a double life. I am a trained accountant, and that is my day job. By night, I read blogs to gain insight into the latest home renovation trends. It all started early in my marriage when my wife decided to remodel our heritage cottage. I did such a good job of supervising the kitchen and bathroom updates, she subsequently made me responsible for renovating our next five houses! My favourite project was the man shed I designed for myself. Nowadays, my children are busy adding rumpus rooms and studios to their homes. You can guess who is in charge! Renovating has become more than a mere hobby for me. I enjoy doing the research and finding talented contractors. Please feel free to join me on the journey to great renovations. It is such a joy.

Benefits Offered by a Kitchen Island

If your kitchen has enough floor space, you may consider fitting an island into it during a renovation. Here are several benefits these structures offer.  Separation of Zones A kitchen island can help to separate and define the kitchen area in open-plan homes. If you have a one-wall kitchen, the island will fence off the kitchen from the living zone. Similarly, an L-shaped kitchen can be defined by an island. Beneficially, though, these structures don't completely enclose the kitchen as a solid wall does. Read More

Two Money-Saving Renovation Materials to Consider

The kitchen is often the most important room in a home. It's where the cooking is done and much of the eating. Plus, the kitchen is typically a gathering spot.
